The National Fire Protection Association recommends a smoke detector on each floor and in each sleeping area of every home. More than a third of all of the homes in Mt Lebanon do not have a single working smoke detector. That is not OK and we are working hard to change that.
Thanks to a grant we received to help those in need, the Mt Lebanon Fire Department can reach our goal of ensuring all homes in the community have at least one working smoke detector. We also can check existing detectors to make sure they are still good.
If you already have detectors, we are happy to install them.

Being a volunteer firefighter is challenging and rewarding. As a volunteer, you can expect to be challenged. Because firefighting is a dangerous job, you will receive a great deal of training to ensure that you are well versed in the art and science of fire and rescue.
